What is a Strip Hair Transplant?
A Strip Hair Transplant is a procedure where a strip of skin is taken from back of the scalp (known as donor area). The hair grafts are then individually dissected under a powerful microscope. Each graft is then transplanted in the areas of balding. On average, each hair graft has 2 to 3 individual hairs.
Above is the picture of microscope used in dissecting grafts. The arrow points to the light box, which emits light from the bottom that will make it very easy to see grey hairs. In addition to all the high tech equipments, we also have excellent technicians with over 10 years each in dissecting and placing grafts.

Will the hairline look natural?
Yes, Dr. Behnam creates a natural non-pluggy hairline, guaranteed.

Is the area where the strip removed (aka donor area) visible after the hair transplant?
The picture above demonstrates how the hairs in the donor area are covering the suture area. As long as you keep your hair at least 1 inch long, the donor area can be covered very well by your existing hair immediately after the procedure.
Is transplantation done under general Anesthesia?
No. it’s all local anesthesia. Dr. Sean uses a proprietary technology for a pain free procedure.

Does hair transplantation use my own hair?
Yes, we use the hair from the back of scalp. The hair in this area is permanent, meaning that it does not thin out in about 90% of the population. In order to find whether you are a candidate, Dr. Behnam will analyze your scalp using a video microscope as well as densitometer at the consultation.
I have grey hair; am I a transplant candidate?
Yes, we specialize in all kinds of hair color. We have special microscopes and special lights that we utilize during our procedure that makes it possible to perform hair transplantation on grey hair.

Will I be awake during the procedure?
Yes. There is no general anesthesia used. You may also sleep during the procedure or watch a movie. You can bring your own DVDs or CDs.
I am from out of state, are there any accommodations available?
Yes, there are two hotels adjacent to the practice. For those from out of the city, we will cover your hotel stay.

I was skeptical at first about what he could do for me, but after a consultation with Dr. Sean, I was well informed and impressed at the advances he’s made in African-American restoration. | I had a hair transplant done by Dr Sean in 2010. I never write a review. I am very please. I was completely bald. I had a hair transplant in 2007 by another doctor, but it didnt take so well. I was very skeptical. I was left with big plugs in the front of the scalp. Then, I was referred to Dr Behnam by a friend of mine. I went to see him. I was surprised that he spent 2 hours planning, desining. I was convinced that this is the doctor to fix up my previous blunder. So in Jan 2010, I had a hair transplant. The day went very well, almost painless. The difference was amazing from the begining. It has now been 1 year 3 months, the hair has grown out. Dr Shawn Benham has fixed the plugs. The hair translplant looks very natural. I can go out again. I have regained my social life. The doctor makes such a huge difference. I have already reccommended Dr Behnam to a lot of my friends and consistently have the same results. Highly recommended. |

| I never really considered myself a transplant candidate before now. Anyway, had my procedure with Dr. Behnam yesterday and everything went well. No pain whatsoever and his staff and technicians were professional and courteous, answering all my questions while working efficiently. My only disappointment was my graft count, which was less than expected (due to low density in donor area). After the procedure was completed the doctor explained the lower than expected graft count and even refunded part of the cost back to me. Oh well, I would have preferred the grafts instead, but he could only work with what he had. I would highly recommend Dr. B to anyone considering this type of procedure. |
